Trend Report: Berry Red Lips

Berry red is THE colour of the season.  From beauty to clothes, berry red cropped up all over Autumn/Winter catwalks.  Plum tones, scarlet reds and deep burgundy…anything will go.  The easiest way to update your A/W look is by going for a strong berry lip.  Where it matte and stained during the day and go glossy and bold at night.  You can’t go wrong.

How To Get Perfect Eyebrows

A perfectly defined eyebrow is a beauty procedure that should not be overlooked.  It can be a tricky one: what colour, what shape and how big? Luckily our beauty experts reveal all the insider’s tips to get the perfect brow.

  1. Rule Number One: Your eyebrows should begin in the corner of your eye, in line with the edge of your nostril.  Use a eyeliner to line up your nostril with the beginning of your eyebrow to judge where this is.
  2. Rule Number Two: Never pluck your eyebrows from the top, only from underneath!
  3. Rule Number Three: Fill in your brows with an eyeshadow and an angled brush.
  4. Rule Number Four: Use clear mascara to set the shape!

There you have it, the perfect eyebrow!

How To: Frighteningly Good Bloody Talons

If you want to create some scarily good nail art this Halloween then follow this step by step guide to get yourself some blood dripping fingertips.

  • Step 1: Paint your nails with a base colour of your choice, preferably a light-ish colour.
  • Step 2: Dip a bobby pin into red nail varnish and then apply an uneven coat to the tips of your nails to create a blood dripping effect.
  • Step 3: Then apply a lighter red varnish on top to create a more bloody effect.
  • Step 4: Apply a top coat so it lasts longer and adds a finishing shine.

These look really effective and will add a frightening finish to any costume!

How To: Gruesome Nail Art

Gruesome drip nail art…not for the faint-hearted. This design works well with all nail colours but for a Halloween spin we opted for a classic black and gruesome green –  a red would work bloody well too though!

Want to know how to get this ? First of all, paint your base. Then using the drip colour, overload the brush with the polish until it is ready to drip and let it drip its way down your nail.  Repeat a few times per nail and try different amounts of drips of polish per nail for a realistic look.

How To: The Messy Top Knot

The perfect hair look to take you from day to night and easy as one, two, three read on to see just simple it is to create yourself a messy top knot!

  1. If you want a really texturised bun, then spritz a bit of salt spray through the ends of your hair.  Rub hair together at the ends to get some volume and a really messy look.  Then start gathering hair together to the top of your head. Try to avoid using a brush.  The messier the better.
  2. Gather hair up slowly to the top of your head.
  3. Secure hair with a transparent hair tie.  Check you like the height of your top knot.  If your not happy readjust and try again.
  4. If you have thin hair, you can gently backcomb your ponytail from the bottom up to add some texture to create a larger knot.  If you have backcombed, spray some hairyspray into your ponytail at this point to secure your hard work!  Then carefully wrap your ponytail around the hair tie.
  5. Secure with a handful of kirby grips around the base of the top knot.  To finish off, add a last spray of hairspray to secure your top knot and voila, there you have it a messy top knot.

Nail it - with nail wraps in preparation for LFW!

To match the hottest print of the season, we opted for some dogtooth nail transfers - check out our range of nail varnish and nail wraps at boohoo!

STEP 1: Remove any nail polish and shape and file the nails.

STEP 2: Apply your chosen base colour. We like to do 2 layers so the colour is really bold.

STEP 3: Cut the nail transfers to fit each of your nails.

STEP 4: Doing one nail at a time, soak the nail transfer in warm water for roughly 15 seconds. Dab dry with a tissue and then slide the transfer off the white paper back and apply to nail.

STEP 5: Apply 2-3 layers of top coat.
