Keep your nails on trend this Spring with the latest beauty trend…nail wraps!

Whether you’re looking to go fun and funky or glam and girly, these exciting designs are a quick and easy way to accessorise your outfit top to toe. Let your nails do the talking and team with a neutral outfit and a colour pop clutch

What would you wear them with?

Go crazy for zig zags this season and embrace the Aztec print.  The perfect print for summer holidays ahead, why not clash prints and opt for Aztec-inspired nail art too!  Our favourite nail blogger, Emma from Boom Nails has put together a nail tutorial for one of our favourite trends of the season, Aztec Prints so that you can get the look too.  Over to Emma…

  1. Do a base coat
  2. Paint your base colour. You can choose any colour for this design - I went for mainly white, with one purple nail and one green nail on each hand
  3. Get hold of a black nail art pen. Start with a row of triangles. I did the outlines first, then filled them all in
  4. Draw a row of short verticle lines underneath your triangles
  5. Do a zig zag line across the tip of your nail. Then copy the same line a bit below it
  6. Draw a line of dashes
  7. FIll in the last bit of free space on your nail with a zig zag, and put some little mini dots in the gaps
  8. Repeat these same patterns on your other nails. Change up the order and add in some of your own patterns too if you like!
  9. Finish with a really good top coat, like Seche Vite

Hope you’ve enjoyed the tutorial. Let me know what you think by tweeting me! @BoomNails or check out our facebook page!

Our favourite nail art blogger, Emma from Boom Nails has created some pretty in pink nails exclusively for boohoo that are sure to turn heads in this Spring/ Summer!   Team with pastel hues and floral prints this Spring for a look that will brighten up your transitional wardrobe!

Over to Emma:

  • STEP ONE: Do a base coat
  • STEP TWO: Two coats of a pale pink nail varnish. I used a No7 one called Pinky Pure
  • STEP THREE: Use a white nail art pen to do a dot at the base of your nail. Do another dot joining on to that, and so on until you have a vertical line of white dots going down the length of your nail.
  • STEP FOUR: Repeat! Carry on until you have lots of lines going across your nail, all made up of dots.
  • STEP FIVE: I think they look quite nice like this, but to make them (slightly!) resemble sequins, I wanted to put a glitter nail polish over the top. If you prefer them without glitter then at this stage just put a topcoat on! If not, do a layer of glitter over the top.
  • Hope you liked the tutorial! Emma x
  • STEP FIVE: Do this on all of your nails

And voila you have perfect pink nails!

Neon and Monochrome Boom Nails Step One and Two Step Three Step Four Step Four Step Five Step Five Step Six

Emma from nail art blog, Boom Nails has created some neon nails exclusively for boohoo that are sure to turn heads in this sunny weather! Whether you are brave enough to go head to toe with neon this spring/summer or whether you just opt for a touch of subtle fluorescent styling, these boom nails are the perfect addition to any SS12 outfit!

Over to the expert:

  • STEP ONE: As always, do a base coat! I used Barry M.
  • STEP TWO: Two coats of a white nail polish. I used a Revlon one called White On White.
  • STEP THREE: Using a neon yellow nail art pen, make a triangle shape at the base of your nail. Do the outlines first at then fill it in.
  • STEP FOUR: Repeat the process for all of your nails!
  • STEP FIVE: Now for the monochrome stripes! Use a black nail art pen to draw verticle stripes coming out of the triangles at the base of your nail. Be careful to not get black inside your yellow triangles!
  • STEP SIX: Fill in every other stripe with black
  • STEP SEVEN: Do this on all of your nails
  • STEP EIGHT: To finish, put a good quality topcoat over all your nails. Seche Vite is the one I use.

How to Apply False Lashes

Step One: Make sure your make-up is completed before you apply your lashes.  A handy hint for those of you who have a steady hand is to apply your lashes before you apply your eyeliner.  If not line your eyes before your lashes.  Once you are happy with your make up, measure the lashes against your eye and trim if necessary.

Step Two: Now apply eyelash glue above your upper lash line and wait thirty seconds until the glue becomes tacky.

Boohoo tried and tested 6 cream blushers to track down the cream of the crop (excuse the pun). Every girl likes to have a nice glow so boohoo took note from the Spring/ Summer catwalk this year to find the perfect peachy cream blush.  From Louis Vuitton’s pastel SS12 show to Jason Wu’s show full of bright hued peplums, peachy glows were seen on models all over the catwalk this season. So read on to find out which one is the best for your pennies.

  1. Winner: Une Natural Beauty Breezy Cheeks takes first place at the middle of the range price at £8.99.  Application is easy with fingers or a blush brush and the colour is just the right depth.  It doesn’t streak, lasts the course of the day and what is more, it is made of 100% natural ingredients!
  2. Second place goes to No. 17 Blush and Glow at a bargain price of £3.99.  This is more of a powdery consistency and goes on easily with a brush.  It is made up of two colours, one deeper than the other so you can mix and match dependent on whether you are tanned or not.
  3. Urban Decay take third place. This was the most expensive of all the blushers at £16.20 but it does come with a a little mirror to help with those times when you need to do your makeup on the go.  However it was a little oily and you need a lot of product for a real blush but once applied it gave a lovely peachy glow.
  4. Maybelline at £6.49 comes in at fourth place.  This was a little disappointing as it initially has a very luxurious feel and a lovely smell.  However as it is light and greasy, it easily removes foundation and make up underneath.
  5. Natural Collection, the cheapest blusher of them all at £1.99 comes out as a very light paste in a nice natural colour.  However application is difficult as it needs a lot rubbing in meaning the end result is very streaky.
  6. Bloom Sheer Colour Cream is the loser of the cream blushers.  At £11, Bloom disappointed.  Despite the lovely fragrance, it is very oily on application and has a very unnatural hue!

The Perfect Wash Off Fake Tan

                how to make gif

Six wash off fake tans have been tried and tested to find the cream of the crop.  We asked our resident boohoo tan addict what are the most important criteria for a wash off tan and this is what she came up with: smell, longevity, transfer, colour and last but not least the ease of washing off!

So what are the results?  Totally tangoed or golden glow?

  • Winner: Little White Lie (£9.99) - moisturising and instant dark colour, very easy to apply and little transfer.  A clear winner!
  • 2nd place: Rimmel (£5.99) - Fairly difficult application as very strong colour but once rubbed in, it gave a deep golden natural tan that lasted all night.  Little product required for tan but needed a bit of a scrub in the shower.
  • 3rd place: Fake Bake (£9.99) - Fake Bake had little fragrance and was quick and easy to apply but needed a bit more product to get the golden glow you want.  Although it did last all night!
  • 4th place: St Tropez (£12.29) - This had a nice light fragrance but had a very weak colour.  You need a lot of product to get the required result and it very easily came off with any spillages. Disappointing!
  • 5th place: Solait (£4.50) - This was easily transferred onto clothing although smells really nice and very moisiturising.  Colour is a little unnatural although if you are looking for a cheap fix, then it’ll do the job for a few hours.
  • Loser: 17 (£4.99) - This was an odd colour and quite weak although good for a top up moisturising tan if you have already fake tanned and need a boost!

Nail tutorial inspired by our latest collections on boohoo.com

The fab Nail artist over at Boom Nails has created some nail tutorials based on the patterns, shapes and colours of Boohoo’s gorgeous collections, inspired by our Decades and Oxford Blues collections (available from Jan 30th).

Emma - take it away!

The first nail tutorial I’m going to show you is based around this gorgeous collection including pink hues, polka dots and creams.

STEP ONE: Base coat. Always do a basecoat! I used Orly Bonder Rubberised.

STEP TWO: Two coats of white nail varnish. It’s okay for the first coat to be quite thin, as the second coat will even everything out. I used Revlon - White On White.

STEP THREE: Do the outlines of the collars! As you can see from the picture - they’re just little triangles at the tip of the nail. For this bit, get your hands on a black nail art pen.

STEP FOUR: Fill in your collars!

STEP FIVE: Polka dot your collars with a white nail art pen - or with a toothpick and white nail varnish, if that’s how you roll! Make sure the collars are completely dry before you do this (as otherwise the tiny polka dots might bleed). Make the dots as small as you can!

STEP SIX: Pink half moons! I chose pink for these, to match the shorts that the model is wearing with the top. You could choose another colour if you like, or do it to match your own outfit. Half moons are pretty simple to do - just paint a crescent shape at the bottom on your nail, and fill it in. I used a pink nail art pen.

FINITO! Now you’re done. Hopefully you have something which looks a little like the picture above. Hope you’ve enjoyed the tutorial, let me know what you think on

We are still loving our pastel shades so we thought we would try out some candy-hued rainbow nails.  We tried out a variety of brands so that we could see whether you really have to part with your pennies to get those perfect SS12 nails!
We tested six in total:
Chanel Vernis Nail Varnish in Pretty Ballerina - £17.50
Revlon Top Speed Fast Dry Nail Enamel in Peachy - £6.49
Models Own Nail Varnish in Blooboo - £5.00
Rimmel Lycra Professional in Peppermint - £4.59
Barry M Nail Polish in Lemon - £2.99
Miss Sporty Nail Varnish in Grape -  £1.99
We based our results on 5 factors: strength and durability i.e does it easily chip, depth of colour, the amount of layers needed, ease of application and value for money.  So, which brand was the best of the bunch then?
WINNER:    Rimmel - lovely colour, good brush to apply and no chipping!
2nd place: Models Own - rich pastel matte colour, value for money
3rd place:  Revlon - nice colour, dried quickly but needed layering
4th place:  Miss Sporty - needed layering but good value for money
5th place:  Chanel - colour very nude, needed layering
LOSER:      Barry M - needed lots of layering, quite thin consistency but lovely yellow hue
